Rejection Letters

Laurell K. Hamilton, writer of the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter Series, has an interesting article on editor rejections at Powell's Books.

The Thanksgiving Day when I got that memorable rejection was the beginning. The beginning of creating my own worlds, places I wanted to play, characters that I now think of as good friends, old friends. A rejection isn't an end, it's a beginning.

It made me think about times I have been turned down for one thing, and then another, better opportunity opened up. Anybody else have an experience like that? Care to relate?

When I joined the Air Force, I was originally supposed to ship out within thirty days. Well, for some reason that path was closed to me and my enlistment date was pushed back for months. I was anxious to go, but I waited.

When I finally got to my permanent station a year later, I met my future husband. We've been married almost 20 years.

I found your site at Remy's blog. I don't know how I missed it. I'm adding your site to my blogroll.
