Lloyd Alexander has Died
He was 83. I credit the Prydain Chronicles, which I found on a teacher's shelf in third grade, with engendering my love of fantasy. Even more than The Chronicles of Narnia or The Lord of the Rings, the character of Taran taught me a great deal about courage, manhood, and justice. I pray Alexander was a believer. He certainly knew what honor meant and the importance of family since he was married for 61 years to the same woman. I only hope my marriage lasts that long. God bless his family and be with them in their time of mourning.
Read his obits at The Washington Post and SFWA.

Oh, what sad news! I loved the Prydain series, also and read it and reread it for eons. Even as a teen, I read them -- and copied down all the statements that struck me as being full of wisdom.
As an adult, the series sits on my shelf amidst all my rock and roll books.
