Charis: Mighty to Save

I heard this song for the first time at Charis (our Sunday evening worship at Big Creek) and loved it. Listen and enjoy!

Song: Mighty to Save

When everyone needs compassion,
And love that never fails,
Let mercy fall on me

When everyone needs forgiveness,
Kindness of the Saviour
The Hope of the nation

(Chorus:)
Saviour, He can move the mountain,
My God is mighty to save,
He is mighty to save
Forever author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

So take me as you find me
All my fears and failures
Fill my life again

I give my life to follow
Everything that i’d believe in
Now i surrender (and i surrender)

(Chorusx2)

(Bridge:)
Shine a light in and let the whole world see
Singing, for the glory of the risen king
Jesus, Shine a light and let the whole world see
Singing for the glory of the risen king

(Chorus)

(Bridge:)

The message of this song is awesome. I sent it to several worship leaders.

in the song "Mighty to Save", can someone please give me some biblical support for the thoughts in this song "mercy fall on me" and "fill me once again". i'm a music coordinator at my church and love the song and there are a lot of really good thoughts in the song, but find these points taught in the song may not be biblical. i am just wondering if anyone has any thoughts to support them.

pep - my thought is that this is a bit of poetic license. Traditionally, Heaven is thought of as "above" in the sky. Therefore, when we are given mercy it "falls down"

As to the "fill me once again" refers to those who have backslidden. Not so much lost their faith, as simply are ignoring it and want that renewed connection with Christ. If I don't read Scripture every day, I find that I need to be "refilled" or refreshed. Same with Sunday services. I am filled with Christ in order that I may go forth and work for his Kingdom.

I believe that was the intent of the authors of the song. Just some thoughts.
